Ebin Eyzer Danius, Marthen Dominggus Boediman

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between liturgy and culture in the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera. It also shows that culture is important in Christian religious practice, as shown in the worship liturgy. Liturgy should be interpreted not only as a system of worship but also as a meeting space between daily life and the life of faith of Halmahera Christians. This research uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques through interviews and distributing a list of questions followed by in-depth interviews with key figures. The research results show that the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera does not yet have a clear attitude and position in connecting liturgy and culture. This study also found that awareness of culture in worship is important in Christians' lives in certain practices.
