This article explores the theology of lament in the Book of Lamentations as a liturgical and pastoral resource for accompanying disaster victims in Indonesia. Through a literary-theological analysis of the structure and theology of the Book of Lamentations, this study demonstrates that the lament tradition provides a space for honest expression of suffering before God without reducing the complexity of traumatic experiences. By integrating perspectives from trauma theology and contextual pastoral studies, this article offers a theological-practical framework for building communities of accompaniment that enable disaster victims to experience holistic recovery. The research findings indicate that lament is not a sign of unbelief but rather an authentic form of faith that enables transformation from suffering toward hope.
Abstrak
Artikel ini mengeksplorasi teologi ratapan (lament) dalam Kitab Ratapan sebagai sumber daya liturgis dan pastoral untuk pendampingan korban bencana alam di Indonesia. Melalui analisis literer-teologis terhadap struktur dan teologi Kitab Ratapan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tradisi ratapan menyediakan ruang ekspresi penderitaan yang jujur di hadapan Allah tanpa mereduksi kompleksitas pengalaman traumatis. Dengan mengintegrasikan perspektif trauma theology dan studi pastoral kontekstual, artikel ini menawarkan kerangka teologis-praktis untuk membangun komunitas pendampingan yang memampukan korban bencana mengalami pemulihan holistik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ratapan bukan tanda ketidakpercayaan melainkan bentuk iman yang autentik, yang memungkinkan transformasi dari penderitaan menuju harapan.
